Terms of Service

To participate in the KUFA Hackathon, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration (strictly 18+ only)
• Be currently enrolled in an educational institution or be a recent graduate (within 2 years)
• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Agree to comply with all event rules and regulations
• Have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement

University of Kufa reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time.

Registration for the hackathon requires:

• Creating an account with accurate personal information
• Providing valid contact details and emergency contact information
• Agreeing to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy
• Completing any required waivers or consent forms

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Registration does not guarantee acceptance to the event.

As a participant, you agree to:

• Attend all mandatory sessions, including opening and closing ceremonies
• Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members and other participants
• Follow all venue rules and safety guidelines
• Use only permitted tools, technologies, and resources during the competition
• Submit your project by the specified deadline
• Present your work to judges if selected

Teams may consist of 2-4 members. Projects must be original work developed during the hackathon period.

Regarding intellectual property:

• You retain ownership of any intellectual property you bring to the hackathon
• You own the intellectual property rights to work you create during the event
• By participating, you grant organizers a non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, and display your project for promotional purposes
• You must respect the intellectual property rights of others
• Open source components must be properly attributed

Any disputes regarding intellectual property will be resolved according to Iraqi law.

All participants must adhere to our code of conduct:

• Treat all participants, organizers, mentors, and judges with respect
• Maintain a harassment-free environment for everyone
• No discrimination based on gender, race, religion, nationality, or other protected characteristics
• No cheating, plagiarism, or academic dishonesty
• No disruptive behavior or violation of venue policies
• No use of alcohol or illegal substances during the event

Violations may result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event.

By participating in the hackathon:

• You acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks
• You participate at your own risk and responsibility
• University of Kufa and event organizers are not liable for personal injury, property damage, or loss
• You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers from any claims arising from your participation
• Our total liability is limited to the extent permitted by law

We recommend that participants have appropriate insurance coverage for personal belongings and health.
